Henrik Lundgaard - DTC 2007

Birthday: 26-2-1969

Henrik Lundgaard is the most succesfull danish rallydriver ever. He won 4 Danish Championships before turning to the stages outside Denmark. In his first rally in an internationally competitive car - a newly bought Toyota Celica - he came 6th. But the debut rally was no ordinary rally - it was the Rally Monte Carlo 1997 and thus he became the first danish rallydriver to earn a World Rally Championship point. What a debut.

But experience counts in rallying and it would last a few years before Henrik Lundgaard saw his first victory in an international championship rally. It came in the year 2000 where Henrik Lundgaard campaigned a Toyota Corolla WRC in the European Championship and he ended the year as European Champion together with co-driver, Jens Chr. Anker. The following year, 2001, the pair entered the World Championship and they ended up as winners of the Teams Cup for private teams.

Then, suddenly, Henrik Lundgaard left rallying behind as he - in cooperation with his long-term sponsors, Toyota and Castrol - turned towards circuit racing . At his workshop a pair of Toyota Corollas were built specifically for the Danish Touringcar Championship. Again Henrik Lundgaard was succesfull and already in 2004 he was fighting hard for the championship which slipped through his hands at the last race and left him at second place. A position he also claimed in 2008.
