Thorkild Thyrring drove the 1989 Le Mans for Spice Engineering. Spice had dominated the C2 class for a few years, so by 1989 they had developed a car for the big C1 class. Thorkild Thyrring drove one of the two Spice C1 racers, but it quickly became clear that the car was far from being competitive in the fight against the big factory teams. In fact, it was only marginally faster than the factory C2 model and since it was also unreliable, it was uphill. The team had to retire during the night.
