Johnny Laursen did not enter motor racing as a small boy in a kart. It was later in life he took up racing after he had established a large publishing company that - among others - published the Danish car magazine BilMagasinet.
He flirted a bit with Formula Renault and Ferrari Challenge before he in 2006 became Ferrari dealer in Danmark and then began looking more seriously into racing - of course in Ferraris - with his own team, Formula Racing.
In 2013 the teamed up with none other than Jan Magnussen and the pair participated in the International GT Open Series racing in many European countries. The year after the team swithced to the ELMS where they won the championship in 2015. This gave the team a start at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2016.
In recent years Johnny Laursen has scaled down at his racing but he still keeps an eye at motorsport and several young talents have got his support. Drivers as Mikkel Mac and Nicklas Nielsen have both got the chance to race in international events for Formula Racing.
