Holger Helle was - together with this brother Jørgen Helle - a part of the many second hand car dealerships, that made Silkeborg the 'Motor City' of Denmark.
With a healthy dealership as his background - and with the Danish racetrack Jyllandsringen in his backyard - it came natural to be involved in motorsport. But he just raced a little at the Jyllandsringen and instead it was at the rally stages he made himself known.
Quickly he began rallying abroad in addition to his paticipation in Danish rallies and in 1977 he drove his first WRC-rally - the Rallye Monte Carlo. For the next 20 year he participated in many WRC- and ERC-rallies. For 12 years he had Karsten Richardt as codriver og together they won a Danish Championships.
