Comments

John Nielsen was teamed up with Formula 1 driver, Martin Brundle, and their car was the only Jaguar with only two drivers. The reason behind this was, that Brundle and Nielsen were supposed to be "hare" - drive as fast as possible to pressure the Porsches to drive faster than they could stand. But there was also a huge risk that the Jaguar would not last the whole race - thus only two drivers, who both were able to keep a high speed for a long time.

As expected the Jaguar was fighting for the lead, but surprisingly it kept on running without any problems and in the early morning the drivers began to believe that they might win the race. And then the engine broke down at 8 o'clock in the morning without any warning. Exit John Nielsen.
