Nicki Thiim began racing in go-kart, but it lasted only until he could compete in a real car. Already as a 15-year-old, he was a regular participant in the Danish Formula Ford championship.
Here he won the Danish Championship in 2006 and the year after he really made his mark among the Danish elite when he attended a few races in the Danish Touringcar Championship as a replacement for his father, Kurt Thiim. Both times he impressed by immediately being able to fight among the established DTC drivers and was rewarded with being second twice.
Simultaneously, he began to race in Germany, where he won the 2008 Seat Leon Supercopa Cup. The following years he raced mainly in Germany in the Porsche Carrera Cup and in endurance races.
In 2013 came his breakthrough - he won the Porsche Supercup and also the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Aston Martin offered a drive for 2014 leading to a works seat in 2016 and already in the first year (2016) Nicki Thiim won the GT World Championship.
