2009 was not a great year for Tom Kristensen and Audi at Le Mans.

Usually the Audi team has always been very well prepared and the execution of the race has been excellent. But in 2009 there were quite a few gremlins in the plan. The drivers were not happy with the car prior to the race and during the race a lot of small technical issues kept the car from its full potential. Not that it mattered that much as Tom Kristensen thought that even at full speed the Audi was not able to follow the Peugeots.

Tom Kristensens Audi was never a part of the fight for victory but still it was the best Audi finishing at 3rd place 6 laps behind the winner.
