Result: Number 18 general - Number 4 i GTEPro

Comments

Le Mans 2018 was a close race where most of the GTE Pro cars were able to drive at similar laptimes. Many teams were even able to avoid trouble during the race and thus even the smallest details could affect the result.

Jan Magnussens team was in the fight, but during the night they could sustain their laptimes and fell a bit back. When the morning arrived the Corvette was back on speed, but they could not regain the loss from the night and the team finished in 5th place. This was later converted to a 4th place as one of the cars ahead got a penalty.

A funny detail at the car is that it has 4 drivers marked at the roof. The 4th 'driver' - Tripp ' was a young boy diagnosed with cancer. In 2018 he visited the Corvette team as a part of a 'Make-A-Wish' program. He then got his name at the car and it stayed there. As far as I have been able to find out Tripp has since recovered from his illness.
